9-a-side football requires much greater organisation so coaching sessions need to build on individual positional tactics to introduce team-related tactics. Individual player development continues to predominate and the needs of individuals will continue to take priority over the needs of the team – but we recognise at this stage that children will only continue to enjoy their football when they are competing well, getting involved and learning.

 

Results should still not be the main focus but kids need to see they are making progress individually and as part of a competitive team.
